Oil light question

As most of you guys know, the oil light in the R1 engine is a very sensitive one. Also, I believe it reads LEVEL as opossed to PRESSURE, correct?

Anyway, when I went for a ride yesterday, the oil light stayed on for about the first 0.75 miles and then went out. It never went on the rest of the ride. This happened once before, same thing...on for ~0.75 miles then off the rest of the ride. Why did this happen? I checked the level before each ride and it was fine, right at the upper level of the sight glass. (Yes, the oil level was checked with the bike on a level surface and sitting upright)

Any input or thoughts on this? Like I previously mentioned, the light never came back on again during the entire ride. It only came on during the first mile or so when I was going ~35mph.

All response are appreciated.

Scott

forget it check oil level befor each ride and dont worry about the light if the light comes on and you know you have proper oil level and you have not laid down a big strip of oil on the hiway then it aint no big deal!
however it is very destracting. and i dont like it but what do you do!

It's a quirk inherent in the Yamaha.
