QLDers invading NSW

Hmmmmm haven't had a look in here for ages........lots of activity!

Anyway heading down to NSW for the weekend with a small group of guys (from ozsportsbikes.com), looking to head out the New England highway and have a lot of fun heading for a little known place called Nymboida......not far from Grafton and then possibly heading on to do some of the Oxley as i've heard shitloads about it......something about getting bored doing twisties and that 2nd gear is going to hate me.....sounds good!

possibly heading to Armidale ish way as well

Anyone heading out in that sort of direction this weekend and be interested in saying hello??

Must drop in here more often!

Trip didn't end up as expected..........if anyone one saw a Blue 03 R1 with the tail being held on by electrical tape and the exhaust held on by Bungee strap , that was me!

Every fairings scratched or cracked....including the headlights and front fairing stay....bloody Armco barriers at least the sliders worked till the bike hit the barrier!

Bugger!

As long as you are ok and insured then it won't seem as bad as you first thought.

There are a few people on here that can relate to that, myself included. As they say it happens to the best of us and life goes on, it all depends on how maturely we deal with these situations.

Any way i'll stop boring you and like i said i hope you aren't hurt and back on the road soon.

Me......got a slightly sore left but cheek from it (wearing full leathers - only scrapes on them too! )

The bike hasn't left the road yet actually....... we hadn't made it to Nirvana yet.......she did another 1000km's and several laps of Nirvana bouncing of the limiter in 1'st, 2nd and 3rd

ended up going from Brisbane, to Kyogle, to Casino via some back end town (great road though) to Tenterfield. From tenterfield headed out but took a detour to the Gwyder Highway and down towards Grafton (really nice mountain there). Headed out to a little known place called Nymboida (our real destination), which is Nirvana for motorbikes ........you'll understand if you've ever been there. If you've never been there......go!

Did 4 or 5 laps and continued along this road to Armidale (via Dorigo - this is an awesome road, but very tight.) Stayed at the Tattersals and did the trip pretty much in reverse on the way home.

Would just like to say, that if anyone asks you to go for a ride on the Lions Rd........don't go......that has to be one of the worst roads in the country!

Before you ask..........i did stop at Grafton and get the bike checked out and the exhaust clamp tightened before i went on...i'm not a complete idiot! Didn't see the point of heading home as the motor/frame/wheels and tyres were and are all fine.

But this has birthed the project 03 R1 Streetfighter

Re lions road? - any probs with cows - went that way by mistake two weeks ago bloody things just wont move off the road!!!!!

Also had a bit of fun. the "speed to conditions sign" confused one of the group - thinking as a nice day and long staight he could do whatever he wanted - yep you guessed ........ping!!! he was V V lucky - cop said to spend the fine on a new rear tye..........they do exist nice coppers!!!

Sounds like you had a ball despite the whoopsy, and well done for not cracking the sooks and going home like most people would've done.

Please don't waste a perfectly good R1 by turning it into a street fighter.

Sports bikes are made for cornering................BANDITS,FAZERS and the like are bikes to be turned into streetfighters, just my opinion.

Pom.....i'm guessing that's the Pom i know from another (multi brand) site? .....the one who got caught speeding after Greenmeanie ran? (sorry i mean didn't notice the policeman and continued on his way at a faster pace! )

Lions Rd, had, potholes everywhere, single lane wooden bridges, dozens of cattle grates, piles of cow dung, cows in the middle of the road, bulls trying to charge bikes.......rd that narrows to less than one lane (both directions). Would be a good ride if they ever resurface it.......but until then, i'm avoiding it like that plague!

Streetfightering - It's a temporary solution caused by a cashflow shortage (all the bills come at once!).......full fairings will be restored in a few months!

Then i might purchase on older crashed R1 for streetfighter duties (most of my riding is commuting at the moment!)
