Can you fit an 04 shock on an 01?

I'm curious if an 04 EOM shock will fit an 01 R1. If so, I'm hoping to find one that I can swap out for my OEM shock.

If anyone knows if this will work, I'd sure appreciate it if you could let me know.

Much thanks,
Scott

I have checked the Ohlins web site. they are the same overall lenght(300mm). the travel is 64.5 or 65.5 mm depending on which shock you buy for the 04. The 01, has 65.0mm of travel, part numbers are different so valving or design style must be different. It would be worth a try, if it doesn't work just sell it on e bay.

the resivor may interfere as it is mounted sideways on the 04. You could always fit the 02-03 unit as it has many advantages over the 01 and bolts right in.
