Has any one in the USA had there dealer contact them about the projector head lamps on the 09 melting holes in the fering's below the lights? Mine did here in Australia, I said "no I don't have any melting in mine" but when I got home and had a close look sure enough there was 4 small melted spots. Yamaha is replacing it and fixing the lights, I was just wondering if it was the same over there.
:lol you guys need to stop being so damn impatient and hopping down on your knees to "please" the dealers. If some of us are getting the whole set up then either get your dealer to do the same or wait till we get one back so we can give you more details..
im waiting. id love to have a copy of your work order. that way when i eventually get a chance to take the day off to hit up the dealer i have something concrete to back me up
i agree i think it comes down to which dealers actually put themselves in the customers shoes instead of just worrying about making the bottom line look good. me i dont have the option to shop around much 2 dealers within a hour from me and theyre both idiots. like someone said before more concerned with selling polaris quads and jet skis.
what is the problem with the cct? Mine is weird when I go for full throttle only in 6 gear at 7500 rpm it stops for 1 sec and then it accelerate again, it is scary the first time it did it to me. The dealer say that Yamaha will not pay for the trouble shooting. That sucks because the warranty is still valid, I guess I will file a complaint.
what do you guys think?
I started this thread on the 13th of December 2009 and mine still has not been fixed. Don't get me wrong my local dealer is a top guy and is very helpful to me in all sorts of ways, but Yamaha have been dragging there heals big time and fvcking me and my dealer around but it looks like it will be replaced shortly...... I hope.
I was informed by my dealership that they will only replace the ring around the lights where the burn marks are. However, there is no "fix" for the issue as of yet.
They said that they will not change out the 09 headlights with the 10 headlights.
They also said that there is no "kit" for the headlights either. They do not have any stickers or anything like that to "fix" the problem.
They did mention something about adjusting the angle of the headlights to help prevent the burning but nothing they do will be a 100% fix.
ive got a kit on the way from my dealer. consists of 2 headlight grilles and a pair of reflective stickers (junk). i confirmed with yamaha customer relations and they told me the same thing and they were shipped to my dealer
hey guys i live in australia and had a look the other day and after only 600kms this is what i've got. dealer said to bring it in as there is an official recall down here for the problem.
hi i'm in Sydney and my dealer is Bikebiz at Parramatta. Yeah as soon as i said i had found what looked like burnt/melted mark under the headlights she said "oh yep there is actually a recall on this, bring it in and we will photo the damage, the kms and the vin# and contact yamaha for the recall detail and parts etc."
What issues are there with the CCT other than the bit of rattle on startup? I mean the bike makes background noises while I'm riding it, but none of them seem to be anything to worry about...is there something I should be worried about!? :dunno
That is actually a sticker on the 2010 r1! So if they give dealers the same sticker to put on im fine with that! Mine has not melted so id like to fix it before it does burn holes in the plastic.
there's some other better pics of the melted areas on my photobucket. i'd post images but they're huge and i dont feel like downsizing them :saw: so heres a link :jump
Well i went to my dealer yesterday to see what you guys was talking about...Looked at the rossi and its very obvious its a frosted sticker at the bottom of the headlight you can even rub and feel the sticker! Maybe some of the 2010 are frosted with magic frost instead of stickers....Does it really matter if its a sticker that fixes the issue? I personally would like a sticker ASAP before mine even does this. My friends bike has it and it looks like someone took a ice pick and poked around the plastic! Question for the guys having the issue do you guys leave your bikes outside or garaged? Thanks and good luck to all you!

Then its very obvious you don't have good touch receptors on your finger tips because it is NOT a sticker.
Yes if you want it fixed correctly. The stickers have been coming off within a few weeks and the burn marks show up anyway. Your bike though do what you want.
It's happening to Garage queens as well as outside dogs. Its because most people ride their bikes in the daylight not at night.
Read the last few posts you have been claiming are incorrect and you would find that the answer is only at the bottom. Why would they frost them all the way around?
oh, i live in WI so its not really hot here. the bike was left inside the dealer from delivery till i purchased it on june 30 of last year. so not much time in the sun...
Its obvious the light is coming from the top of the headlight to burn the plastic....I was asking to see how all the 2010 headlights are....because regardless of what you have and what you have seen its a sticker on the 2010 rossi at my dealership...My touch receptors are just fine my friend. Im just gathering info so i can get mine fixed the proper way!
By the way im not trying to start a argument with anyone ....We are all in this together and i just want the right info...cause i know dealers can be a big pain on recalls...I had the 07 r1 ecu change back in 07 and it was a big pain getting all the info and having it fixed for no cost! Thanks for all your info!
just look on page 7. i even posted up my work order. i tried to make it as easy as possible for you guys
