So ive had my flashed ecu for 2 years with no problems. After i installed my bazzaz Zfitc the bike ran for about 5 mins then shut off. I tripple checked everything and it was good but still wouldnt start. I took the bazzaz off the bike and brought it back to stock connections and still wouldnt start. Error code 40 meaning secondary fuel injectors. The bike is getting spark because it was running when id spary gas down the throttle bodies, its just not getting fuel. I took my ecu off and put it on a friends stock 09 r1 and his bike threw a code 40 and wouldnt start, could this be the pins in the harness not switched? (with the ecunleashed you need to swap 4 pins in the main harness plug). Im going to send my ecu back to jett on monday and see what they say. I just dont understand how installing a bazzaz could fry my ecu, i did buy it used from edr so it may have a broken wire somewhere but still shouldnt this blow a fuse before the ecu? Anyone with any info would be great. Round 1 of racing is on the 26th of may so i need to sort this out asap
Ya i guess both my ecus were in "dealer lock" mode. Bikes been running fine without the bazzaz and i sent my bazzaz back and they said everything works fine so i have no idea how this keeps happening.. Ill be selling the bazzaz and going with a 2012 yec ecu and harness
Did you send back the wiring harness with the Bazzaz because I have been hearing that there are problems with the Bazzaz harness for 09+ R1's and there not being a good enough connection as the pins are too short.
The problem I had with this bike we fixed was the same as yours. The Bazzaz unit and the harness are with Bazzaz and they are figuring out what the problem is. I should hear back some time this week and will post it up here.
Yes i sent the ecu, harness, quickshifter and they said it all checks out to be working normally. Im taking all the scotchloks off and going to use a different type of connector and see what happens
Ya definitely is a connection issue if the Bazzaz is still working fine as they say. I never liked those scotchlocks cause it caused me to snap a wire once trying to disconnect them. The PC's have ones that I like wish they change to them
So have we figured out if it is a map issue vs. an electronics issue? Is this something that can be solved with a correct map, or is it a deeper issue related to the actual electronics?
I would take it off until you figure out the problem. You said your getting the bike tuned? If so then install it when you get the bike tuned and see if you have any problems with it on the dyno. If so then scrap the box and clear the code, if not then you should be fine with it.
I have never used a Leo box so I dont have any experience with it but Im assuming you went through all of the connectors and made sure they are properly connected and its installed correctly (I have seen people hook Bazzaz's up wrong)
I disconnected it and rode it around for 20 minutes. No codes thrown so I think I am good for now. It is running really rich with the full pipe and no cat though.
Ya you wont have any problems with running just off the ECU. It seems like something is wrong when running a piggy back with the ECU, it just doesnt work properly and I cant understand why.
Im hoping Bazzaz will have some answers for me once they are finished diagnosing my friends
See this yellow looking connector? Do your bazzaz units plug into this? I think this may be the culprit. This is the secondary injector plug and my Leo Vince box plugs into this but is missing a few pins to match it.
Ok so the bike which seems to have had this problem with the Code 39 sent his Bazzaz in for assessment. He received it back on Friday and there seems to be absolutely nothing wrong with the Bazzaz unit and it is working perfectly fine.
So....my assumption right now is this and that is that the Falsh-Tune does nto work well with the Bazzaz. There were some stories about having to reverse the injector order but we did that and it still does not run. I came up with this assumption because prior to having the Flash-Tune flash this bike had an ECUnleashed Flash on it with the Bazzaz and it worked perfectly fine even on the dyne. For some reason when my friend sold this bike the new owner had the bike reflashed with the Flash-Tune software and this is where all the problems began.
So the next step is that he is going to have his ECU reflashed once again but with ECUnleashed and we will then see if the Bazzaz has any issue with this.
I don't remember reading that but I do know they are reflashed now with them. If that is the case then I have no idea what this problem is with the Bazzaz.
No fried ECU but my biggest obstacle installing Bazzaz ZFI was routing the harness next the battery had to get rid of that bulky plastic sheath and tape it up with electrical tape fits nicely. now i dont have to worry bout my a$$ squashing the cables lol
My buddies bike that I flashed had a similar issue. He took it to have it dyno'd and apparently on the first pull the bike shot off a error code 40. The tech said he reset the error code but it kept coming up. He brought me the ECU, I reflashed and was still getting the error code. Dealer said it was fried, I bring it up into diag mode and cleared the code by selecting 62 and 63 then hitting the kill switch. Turn bike off and on and it started right up!
