So just replaced the sprockets and chain and the rear sprocket has a wobble to it... Worried about it, I occasionally feel a a light impact sensation or something thru my foot pegs, not sure if I'm being paranoid because my old chain and sprockets where worn pretty bad and appeared to have rubbing on the inside of the plate of the chain.. see attached for video of new sprocket. Things I've checked, torque of the sprocket bolts and alignment and torque of the rear axle.
I would grab some vernier calipers and measure the inner diameter of the sprocket hub where that race sits. if it wasnt centered when it was tightened down it may have deformed the hub because its softer than the the race/spacer.
New carrier bearing installed, spun it on the axle, I can almost guarantee that bearing was bad, the new one spins so nice compared to the one before... Now for the damn needle bearings... Heating the wheel up in the sun ?, worked good on the carrier, went in with some solid tapping
Does your bike see lots of water and or the garden hose? Open up the bearings and take a look or pics. Just pop the rubber seal off with micro screw drivers.
That black marks on the bearing seat look normal from the pressing in/out.

That doesn't look bad at all. Not saying it's not screwed but I wonder if that's been replaced as I thought OEM was black seals. Might have been pressed in wrong if aftermarket replacement??
Maybe someone will chime in with the correct colour of the oem?
Sweet! That'd be good to know... All balls is blue....... Well that wasn't hard at all... All the bearing are in... Freeze+hot ambient work great... Going to pack some grease, put dust seals on and try it out!
Not sure if you can see, but from the old setup it was already starting to wear the sprocket on the inner side and that was only 1 day commute of ~80 miles
I hope it wasn't that aftermarket sprocket being torqued on too much warping it or something?? It might be flat but after tightening down bowed out a bit. Just a thought...Definitely worn wrong.
Sorry to hear its still moving around. From your first vid honestly it doesn't even look too bad. I prob wouldn't have even noticed that. I mean the Cush drives are rubber mounted to there will be some amount of flex and movement. I can't even check mine to tell you as the 15 throws a code on the rear stand and I'm not going down that road LOL

Do you think your sprocket wear could be from a bad chain? Or incorrect chain tension? And you're sure all the sprockets are the same thickness i.e. 520 or 525 or 530?
I am replacing an old chain right now as my lateral lash was way too much and chewing the rear sprocket up. Thats an older Duc mind you.
They are all 520, can't miss the difference between the stock 530 and the 520s... They where in one kit (not to say that's proof of no mistakes) but the kicker is the stock set was doing this too that's why it started wearing the inside of the chain plates and why I replaced them. Was sniffing around the forum and one suggestion was to lubricate the cush rubbers maybe it's not seating fully.... Grasping at straws right now...
I looked at my rear sprocket yesterday when the bike was on a stand and it has no wobble at all.
Given that the carrier looks fine when spun on the axle, it must be the way it sits in the cush drive. Might be worth using some silicone spray to lube the cush drive rubbers, then using a hammer on a piece of wood to make sure the carrier has bottomed out.
Used some white lithium grease and lightly coated the rubbers and slid the carrier in, not a whole lot of resistance now. Didn't try using a hammer and wood... But it felt like it bottomed out..
Going to try to rule stuff out... My thought is if it's the axle the whole wheel would wobble... Replaced bearings so going to say isn't the bearings.... So the only things left are the carrier, wheel or cush rubbers...
Off the bike, haven't tried it, wouldn't it be basically the same as on the bike?
Really thinking about this I think whatever the problem is created the bad bearing because that bearing was most definitely bad compared to the new one.
Ok just got my new carrier... Concerned, what's the difference between 5JJ-C and 5JJ-D?? The nuts on this carrier are also bigger than what I had too...
I wouldn't worry. The 2011 - 14 R1 models list the same part number. If you look it up, it's been fitted to many Yamaha models since 2000. The 5jj means it was first used on the 2000 - 01 R1, and I expect the C and D are just manufacturering codes.
Just put it on..... No [emoji24] [emoji24] [emoji24] [emoji24] [emoji24] so frustrated... Took another video, can see axial movement too, so there is axial and radial movement...
Yeah.. I'm trying to get this "straightened out" pun intended lol, but also trying to figure out how in the hell did this happen... How does a wheel just become bad? I just commute this bad boy & mostly freeway....
Ordered one, 14.41$ free shipping, I'll update when I get it next week.
