I'm glad your able to use a map that we developed but it was designed to be used with a graves motorsports system respectfully. I'd suggest using the unrestricted map and letting a tuner do some customer work on it to lessen the power signatures in the areas that are important to you.

I installed my graves and BMV air filter as well as flashed the graves tune. I have just the cat eliminator. I did also install the smog block off plates and made sure they were in proper and sealed.

Ever since it has felt like the bike is idling poorly. I'm not sure if the idle is just a little low or what.

I found a few videos on YouTube of 2015's with this exhaust and they all seem to idle perfectly smooth.

I did have the compression checked when they did the transmission recall and it was perfect.

The bike idled ropy before and after the recall work.

Mine runs smooth for 2 to 3 seconds and then the idle dips a bit (can see it on the dash as well as hear it) and then it speeds back up and idles fine for a few seconds. I guess I'll flash the stock tune back on it and see if that clears up the ropy idle because I have no idea what else to try. On an older bike I would just turn the idle adjustment screw up a bit to see if it evened out.

Thanks for any help. I've considered flashing it back to stock to see if the idle smooths out.

Try the unrestricted file instead and get back to us. My shop said the graves is a little lean.

I can try that.

It was my understanding that the block off plates would eliminate popping on decel but I still have some which I thought meant I was probably running rich?

Either way running more rich if I'm already rich shouldn't do anything but dirty the oil faster with fuel right? I plan on changing the oil soonish anyways.

rich is always better than lean and mean...

My shop has dyno'd at least a dozen R1's all with the Graves 3/4 system and unrestricted FTECU file, and there was no need for a custom tune. They make around 184-186hp at the wheel on a dyno that tends to read a little lower (not inflated numbers).

Mine is getting done next week, their dyno is being serviced now.

Awesome.

I'll pull it and flash it now so I don't forget. Raining and cold so at best I'll start it and let it warm up to see if the idle is smoother.

Flashed the unrestricted map. Still bouncing around a bit once it hits 140 degrees at idle.

Less popping on decel now. A lot less.

Here is now:
http://youtu.be/YK2zYNG524M sorry the phone doesn't get the sound well. Higher pitches well deeper tones not so well.

Here is the bike right after the exhaust and block off plates and air filter but before a flash:

Did you figure out the Idle issue yet? I have noticed that unrestricted base map has closed loop disabled. I ran it enabled and disabled and only seemed to have an idle issue with closed loop enabled. Although I feel like over all feel and performance feels better with closed loop enabled other than the Idle issue. I didn't go through this whole forum to figure out if anyone else chose the closed loop option or not. From what I gather the most is its best to take the bike in and have it dyno tuned with the FTECU. I keep trying different flashes but seems best they do it right there at the shop with real time calculated numbers.

if the idle is erratic try getting the throttle bodies synchronized. neither one of those videos seems like anything is wrong to me. the idle will hunt a little bit as the engine is coming up to temp. it's never going to be smooth like a new car because it's using 4 separate throttle bodies for one. and it has a really high compression ratio compared to any car. it's going to have a cammed lopey idle a lil bit. but a synchronization may improve it.
heck it's supposed to be checked at 600 miles then every 6000.

Graves 3/4 unrestricted FTECU map here. I love how the bike starts literally with a bang. It cranks for a couple revolutions then jumps to life with a POP. I wonder if that was deliberate. It's pretty cool! Anybody else notice that?

Will adding a air filter such as an MWR or BMC throw off the graves 3/4 exhaust map enough to negate the difference in the air filters performance gain ?

Does anyone Know or if its best just to leave the stock air filter because that's what the map was tuned with ?

Unless your doing a custom map, leave the stock air filter.

I installed a Graves 265MM Cat Eliminator, flashed their FTECU map and my bike idles the same. I think once you remove the O2 sensors which regulates proper air/fuel mixture in the lower rpm range you will have some of the ropy idle. Running with the O2's will clean up the lower rpm range but they I believe switch of at higher rpm and the fuel tables will then take over the fueling. With no O2's in the Graves flash you will run off the fuel tables in a open loop cycle (no feedback air/fuel to ECU from O2's) if I understand the whole fuel injection stuff correctly.

The older I get the slower I go.

I was wondering why it felt worst..... I read on the superbike unlimited thread that they picked up gains with no changes to mapping with the mwr filter so I bought but It doesn't feel like it......bottom line is I need a dyno and a custom tune

I did the same. As soon as they released their dyno info I jumped on a filter.
Installed mine and the bike actually felt better and then installed and autotune and it kept feeling better and better. But a dyno is the best way to tell if it works or not. If you can do a before and after that would be great.

It looks like graves is out of stock on the bench Ftecu kit. If I order it from another vendor, will I have access to graves map? I ordered graves cat eliminator system to use with graves map, but I don't want to wait another two weeks for the Ftecu.

Also, is the Ftecu the same for 15 and 16? Didn't find a listing for 16 on Ftecu.com.

We will have more in the next 1-2 days on the bench kits. You can try a stocking vendor like Revzilla or Sportbike trackgear if they have extras on hand... Otherwise direct shipment ETA is roughly 2 days if you place an order. Cheers
