The stock "matte gold wheels" are actually same color as the exotic looking matte gold wheels used in the 2014 1199 Ducati Superleggera forged magnesium wheels...

I actually like it! Stands out from the crowd of black wheels from other manufacturers!
It actually mimicks the TZR750 works GP bike of "King" Kenny Roberts in the 70's...
His bike had the same Bumble Bee Yamaha racing yellow colorscheme with "Gold wheels"...

Nice retro touch...

I would leave my wheels as is...though, its just a PITA to keep it clean cos of its matte finish.

Matte wheels tend to retain dirt more easily than shiny wheels with a smooth clear top coat on it...
