I love watching him race but I think he should call it a year as well. just like you all are saying heal up. get to 100% and bring that Duc on! '11 should be a really good year.

Thats right, sponsors need Rossi riding, and so does yamaha. Podium or not, they want him out their, especially yamaha!

I have to disagree with how much time he has left. He has so much natural talent and is so competetive I think he truly has another 5 years if he WANTS it. The main problem is going to be getting over the mental part of that wreck. He has never had an accident of that nature. I assure you that and the shoulder injury are the problems he's having now. That was a brutal highside for sure and it will most likely take time to push through that barrier. However I can guarantee he won't quit!

VR quitting?? i think not... edwards is older and his form isnt bad... granted he isnt winning any races, i think he is still well in his prime...

to even call him old isnt right... 31 is not old... ask anyone in their 40s that ride and race at that....

i believe some people use this as an excuse to say they dont want to see him race any more cuz he is going to duc... but that is merely my opinion and is worthless to the rest of the world

Most top tier roadracers are lid to late thirties and some 40's

Some say the best planet on earth, has won 9 world titles, and is on deck to get a 10 all the while being told he's old and the new guard are better but he continues to evolve and smoke them. He is 38.

He's the goat for sure, but I am not expecting much from him in 2011. It's the first year on the duc, it's still the 800cc model, and seeing how it is looking more and more that he will not be allowed to test post valencia (surgery or not) with the reduced testing time, even he will have a hard learning curve. Not saying he won't make an impact as he will, but I doubt Rossi will reclaim the title in 2011. 2012 when they all go to 1000cc is when he will really show what he can do. The level of competition is getting so tough with the new talent, it makes it harder to switch with the learning curve you have to go thru. I wonder though, if he bows out the remainder of the season, how much will it piss YRC off? Technically he CAN ride the bike, so the bike is out on grid and the sponsors are happy. Better to have the bike fighting for a 6-8th place than 15th with a scab rider (if he goes off for sugery). Just my .02

Good points you all got, I think he realized this is not his season and he is riding it out for the contract and sponsors sake.

He will take this time to start preparing for a hell of a season next year with a new team. Why give 110% now just aggravating current injuries and risk new ones.

He is a master in strategies and he's working on one now. Next year will be fukkin awesome in more than one way.

Obviously the smart thing is to end his season now but he is a competitor and loves the race.

Motegi is gonna be a tough test for his shoulder. It has some pretty tough right turns which doesn't bode well for him. But, Phillip Island and Malaysia are 2 of his best tracks. I think he should tough it out for these next 3 races and then call it a season. At least this way he can be 100% for next season.

I totally agree with you, but I think we all know it will never happen. There are only 5 riders on the grid that would have any real success without the electronics. Lorenzo wouldn't be one of them.

He'll quit only when he loses the edge... hopefully no time soon.
