Biggest thing is parts, Yamaha you can order a part and have it next day and AF1 down in texas has a bunch of parts but if you can't find it then it can take weeks to even months for parts from Italy. The joys of an Italian bike, but there is nothing like it. Handles amazing and sounds incredible. So depends on what you want, is it your only bike? The new R1 puts up a great fight and probably easier to maintain and lots of dealers around, but you won't see many aprilias on the road. Do you have an Aprilia dealership nearby?

Sorry Rondoo for taking so long to reply. I think the bike would be perfect for your size. Its a compact bike but its not tiny. You will notice its an extremely tall bike I'm 5'11 and have to almost tip toe at a stop but the rearsets are a little higher so your feet may be a bit cramped after a bit but aftermarket rearsets would sort that out if you don't like it after riding. Reliability has been really good for me so far but only had it for a year and rode 3,000 miles. Only issue with it was when I first got it the coolant clamps leaked because they use snap together clips. First thing I did was change them to adjustable clamps. go on AF1 racing forum and you'll find tons of info about it there. Some stators depending on part use I've heard go out but not a big deal and some people suggest checking the valves after a bit.

I am 200 lbs. 6'1" tall is the bike to small for big guys? I love the look of the bike just don't know how I compares to the 2003 r1 that I currently am riding the 03 r1 seems a little cramped but not bad . and aprilia reliability is it good? I put about 12000 miles a year on my bikes don't want any reliability issues.
