Where I live, a backfire could cause a devastating wildfire. On the night of October 8th at 8:45pm, the Tubbs fire broke out. 7,000 structures, mostly homes, were destroyed in less than 5 hours. 3,200 homes destroyed in Santa Rosa.

If you want to get rid of it, then do this ^^^

andrewstclair hitting the limiter will always do that and the backfire if its on deceleration is a lean pop it happens and its a normal condition that will not do any harm.

Exhaust Backfire Flames

I have a 2008 R1 with a Graves slip on dual exhaust and occasionally at night time i can notice a flame coming out of the exhaust when it backfires and sometimes when i rev it to the limiter. It does not bother me but besides remapping the ecu is there any other way to fix this an/or is it potentially harmful to the bike?
