I bought this as a running bike that supposedly had a fresh engine rebuild and still needed a clutch. As I went to replace the clutch, I realized the previous owner had removed two clutch discs as he though another owner had installed too many. I also realized when he rebuilt the engine he left out dowels from the crankcase and the engine was about to lock up again. I set off on an epic journey to give this bike the love it deserves and rebuild it completely and correctly. It is still not completed as I write this but it doesn't need much more...
1999 Yamaha R1 (N/A)
Stock wheels and Dunlop tires.
Engine is stock. Exhaust already had the EXUP removed when I got it. I added an obnoxiously loud shorty muffler.
Stock fairings with some minor damage from being dropped a few times. For now I will be painting it OD Green but all new fairings will be in order after another year or so after I get used to the bike.
Suspension is all stock for the moment. I will be rebuilding the front forks and likely replacing the rear shock with a newer unit.
