What is up with the huge piece of plastic on the top of the tank??
It takes up the whole top half of the damn thing!
Is that where the new ram air system is?

From what I understand (04 owners correct me if I'm wrong), its to make access to the airbox & filter much easier for maintenance, you don't have to lift entine tank assembly :yesnod

Yamaha also has a carbon fiber front half available, to swap out OEM plastic piece :thumbup

It's also built this way to lower the center of gravity. :thumbup

Yamaha has had this design in the past on their older FZR-600s, but with one solid piece of plastic instead of two..

Hey by the way there's a good looking carbon fiber replacement for that, Im looking into buying one.. If anyone else would like to do a group buy i Think it would be much cheaper
