I saved my Ohlins damper from my '01 when I sold it. The unit will bolt on. You have to turn the mounting bracket 180 degrees so the damper can be mounted upside down. The bracket hardware from the '04 can be used for the mounting bracket. I just used a longer bolt with a 1/8" nylon spacer between the damper heim joint and mount at the fork. Lastly, be sure that you can turn the bars lock to lock. I had to make slight adjustment to the mounting bracket to allow for it. Now I have to get a new Ohlins sticker since the damper is now upside down.
