Think I'll give the first year production '04 R1's a miss and see if anything happens with engine longevity before I trade my '01! :fact

... an interesting sidenote would be that the 04 R1 doesn't see a dyno run at the factory obviously, what is rather astonishing.

rags... isn't it quite obvious? What sense would it make to instruct dealers to baby the engine up to some rev level if it had been run to redline in the factory before???

well those bikes stand in crates at yamaha factory Its obvious they need a good warm up before handling tto customer , though they do runs in factory as well

Kind of funny how some "tuner" who doesn't actually tune any engines at all gives advice that is completely opposite to what Yamaha recommends on their bike.

I know which advice I would take.
