12 R1 Bent Forks, Is This Fixable?

346 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  wallydude
Crashed recently, bike slide into a guard rail at 50 mph, front tire took the hit, bent rim, bent radiator, and forks seem obviously bent cause the forks don’t want to compress down. Was just wondering can I get a shop to straighten them? Or just buy a new set for $900?

Sorry about the bent forks, but there’s no bending them back. The inner tube and outter tube won’t run together in the seal correctly and most likely leak all the oil out all the time
Only way you're fixing that is buying a new one! :p
I have new outers from Alibaba, also on eBay they're listed. Both inners and outers.
My wife crashed her Z400 and bent both forks. Sent them Rohn Jon’s Frame straight. He did an awesome job straightening them. Talk to him first. I believe as long as the chrome isn’t wrinkled he can do it. He is a real nice guy that did excellent work. Even straightened her brake rotor too. All at very reasonable prices. 586-246-4500

He might do great work, but that guy's website is straight out of the geocities era.

I agree it can be modernized a bit but that didn’t really bother me. I found folks on a couple of Ninja forums that used him with great results so I decided to give him a call. To keep costs (shipping and the charge for disassembly/reassembly) down I disassembled my wife’s forks and sent just the stanchions. Of course, the Z400 forks are real simple.
