I just got off the phone with Nels at 2 wheel dyno works. He said by volume he is the #1 yamaha tuner in the world so he has gotten a bunch of stuff no one else has right now. He is working directly with yamalube and the graves monster AMA team and yamaha engineers. We was sent the tune files for Dane wesby's bike and a bunch of other stuff. Basically he said once the ECU is unlocked it's pretty much the most tunable ecu ever. He said he has over 200 traction control maps , 200 quick shifter maps he can change throttle input ,timing, fuel , ect ... He has a r1m test bike now and will be testing with it tomorrow and will send me the info when he's done. He said he expects a 20hp gain on a bone stock bike tuning. Said a pipe plus tune should be 190-200 rwhp. He said right now from the factory the throttle is strange. Up to 40% throttle is doesn't give you 1 to 1 it cuts a lot of power then when it hits 40% throttle it goes instantly 1-1 but then closes the throttle some even if you hold steady throttle. He's going to fix all that. Also the way the traction control is set up say if you are in 5 then go to 6 it doesn't just give you more traction control every level is a different map. What he is going to do is use level 5 as a base and make it so if you want more traction control you go up to 6-9 less 4-1 and he can change when it kicks in how much wheel speed spin at every rpm every speed every gear ect it's limitless. Every electronic aid can be customized like this. So every aspect of the bike can be tuned to exactly what you want and how you plan to use it. He is also making it so you can change all the stuff on the fly. Also he said soon he is getting the programming to make it clutchless down shift. He said you will be able to be at full lean and just down shift it without the clutch and it will match revs perfectly said he will be the first in the world to get it. He said he is trying to develop different tunes for different pipes and usages so you can just mail in your ecu have it flashed pop it back in and be done. I tried to remember all he said I'm sure I'm missing stuff. I'll have the dyno charts for the test bike in a day or 2 and will post it up. He was very excited about this and said literally the tuning on this bike is limitless!

So is this a product that individuals will be able to buy and use to make the modifications? Or is it a service that he can apply by sending them your bike/ECU?
He said anyone can buy the cables and stuff to do it but it's like $3k or something like that. He's doing a bunch of tests now to try and get a good tune for different exhausts and stuff after that if you are not local you can mail on the ecu and have it flashed.

That is exactly my point. They were developed to suit the very fast riders riding on the edge of the bike capabilities. And they have the means to test and tune them further. If we put them in our bikes, not having access to these resources we surely will test Yamaha's pricing policy of the spare parts :scared
Yeah that's pretty much exactly what he said. He's doing a bunch of testing to get a good tune set up for street and track.

Just relaying what he told me. He said he's testing all that stuff out today. Starting with the map that was on Dane wesby's ( not sure if I'm spelling his name right) that he had on the bike he ran the Dunlop test corse on.
