I've seen the 2002 R1 in person at a recent motorcycle show, and I was not impressed. The curves from the previous R1's have been squared off and now the bike looks too futuristic. The fairings are "chopped up" into too many pieces. The distinctive tail section with the twin round lights in now gone. I do like the new paint schemes since they don't have all of the graphics all over like the 2001 bike. The fuel injection should be a plus for the bike, but I was disappointed that only 2 hp was added. I currently own a blue 2000 R1 and I don't see any reason to get the new R1. Basically, I think Yamaha messed up a good thing.
