ive just bought a 2002 R1 private, it starts from cold but only tics over at 800 revs, if i give it a quick blip of the throttle it just stops.. surly the fuel injection should remedy this by ticking over high from cold..(e.g just like a choke, even the fuel injection on my crappy car compensates when its cold) any suggestions or remedies. Also the bike is totally standard.

Blipping a cold engine will always lead to that;you got to let it run at least 30 secs before it will take any blipping.

Does the idle go back to its normal 1150rpms when the op temp is reached?

If not,you may want to raise it.
