2006 R1 Coolant Question

Hey Guys,

I bought a 2006 R1 about a month ago with 9K miles and i started my bike today after about 2-3 weeks of cold weather where it was sitting inside the garage covered. I noticed a few small drips of coolant on the right side kind of in front of the rear brake lever.. it seemed like it had seeped from the top somewhere and ran down.. i ran the bike for 15-20 min letting it warm up and it operated within normal temps, fans kicked on like normal and no coolant on the ground or anything. I did however check the coolant reservoir tank and it is empty? Does that need to be topped off? Any help would be appreciated.

If it's not between the level marks when it's cooled off then top it up.
Yes it needs to have fluid in it when the bike is at room temp (not hot). There is a Full and Low line on the reservoir. You want it in the middle somewhere when the bike is cooled off. There is a couple of common places for small leaks along the right side of the bike under the fairings. There is a ABS/Plastic looking connector that two of the return hoses hook to. A small leak will drip down the back of the motor and end up where you are describing. In my case the clamp was tired and just wasn't sealing the hose well enough.

Would you possibly be able to show me a picture? Been doing some searching and i found this thread.. could you pin point it from this picture in the thread?

Sorry, I was trying get my homework done and didn't see this post until now. Looks like you got it covered in the other post. I was able to get by with just adding another hose clamp to my setup. Hasn't been an issue since.
