I work for a custom atv shop and i am in the process of building a street legal quad with an r1 motor in it. i have a couple of newbie questions since we have never dealt with the motor. first off can the air box assembly be deleted? i was told it could by a motorcycle shop but now that i have the motor here there is a lot going on in there and i would imagine it would cause an issue. secondly will the motor run properly without the factory guage cluster being plugged in? lastly i was also told by this shop to just delete the exhaust gas sensor. is this recommended?

I'll take a stab at this...
1. No, removing the air box will result in HP loss due to the ram air.
2. Yes, as long as you can start it and shut it down you should be good to go.
3. If you are talking about the EXUP, it can be removed as you will probably be running an aftermarket exhaust.
