I've been preparing for a track weekend coming this week (woot!) and shopped for a month straight. Ive tried on Astar SP-1, Dianese race suit(forget the model name, S&S twist of fate 2.0, and even a cycle gear suit. I ran into some good deals with Teknic so I gave them a shot. The leather they use on these two suits is really nice cowhide, I dare say Dianese worthy.

I ordered the Chicane first...its a really nice looking/feeling suit but the problem is that I did not feel comfortable riding it on the track. When they mean Knox "lite" armor, they are not kidding. The suit did not weigh much, was comfortable in all positions, loose on the arms and legs compared to the violator. Breathed nice, easy to get into. The other problem I had was the suit was it only had knee padding, nothing in the shin. Would be great for the street.

I needed something for the track and went to the violator. The spine guard was almost track worthy, felt snugger on the arms and legs, it has upgraded armor that feels comfy (the leg armor is 3/4 length covering the shin and is adjustable). The teknic 1pc suit line has the same back hump on all 3 models. Im very pleased so far, hoping I dont crash test it lol.

Ill do some after track review coming next week with pics. Gotta go pack and prep now lol.

The suit broke in well enough to be comfortable, still couldn't stand straight up in it (its a race suit, not a sport suit). Teknic sizing is a little different from brands like dianese and astar. I usually wear a 40us and went with a 42us for a similir fit. Btw, I'm. About 5'8", 160lbs, avg/slim build. The suits felt good in the FL heat with compression shirt and shorts on, breathed really nice on the track, the speedstar sliders on the violator suits are better than the basic ones on the chicane.

Great suit, quality at a competitive price. Their gloves on the other hand.....I might go back to Astar or RS Taichi (fitment purposes).

Any questions, just pm me ,id be happy to help.

I was at the track and the weather report said the high was in the low/mid 90's(f*). I didnt feel over heated and felt cool on the track, just make sure to unzip and have plenty of water, shade, and a good fan. I was also compression shorts and shirt to help keep cool (also helps when getting in and out of the suit).

Do note: I normally wear a 40US, but had to go up to 42US to fit into a Teknic suit.

Hi Rpwolf,

Well I got very interested and ordered myself the Violator one. I saw that you, seems had an Alpinestars SP-1, and it so happens this is my current suit I'm replacing (damaged). So I thought, relatively to SP-1 then, given your reviews, Violator must be as good or better..

But now I wanted to ask you, this suit comes with Knox® “TP2” CE approved Spineguard, and you wrote that its 'almost track worthy'. What do you think about the hip protection default on this suit? It says , 'Hip padding (6mm rubber foam) in pockets that are upgradeable to Knox® “Flexiform” CE hip.'
Did you find it sufficient? What is it like relative to the Astars SP-1? I have not upgraded SP-1 hip protection, used as is.

And one more thing, what size Astars SP-1 did you use?

The back protector that comes with the Violator suit very nice for a foam style protector. The reason why I say its almost track worthy is because its highly recommended you use a spine guard that has hard plastic or metal spine plates. I ended up using the stock back protector and let a girl borrow my track back protector.

I didnt pay too much attention to the padding, although the coaxial padding is always a nice touch, I feel that it wont do much in a mishap. I didnt get any of the upgradeable options, so I cant comment on it much. The flexiform armor isnt the toughest but its noticeably better than regular foam.

The one thing I wish this suit had was upgradeable chest protection.
I wore a 40us in Astar btw.
