Trying to figure out what's going on with this 2014 R1. Bike won't start off of the battery, but bump starts fine. Original battery was dead, replaced it with a 190 cca AGM battery in it but it sounded like it barely turned over. Went ahead and ordered an ATZ10 which caused the bike to turn over several times but not actually start. Bump starting the bike does work without issue. In the video you can hear the bike turn over but not start. I'm planning to go through the service manual this weekend and attempt to better troubleshoot the issue. Hoping someone has an idea of what may be wrong to help reduce the amount of troubleshooting that might be needed.

I have the exact same problem, no solution yet. Add a jumper battery and it fires right up.

Went in and checked the plugs, they were ok. After doing some interweb research I found a lot of problems with the starter motors on these bikes. Since I was in that far I pulled the throttle bodies, coolant pipe and the starter. When I opened it up the magnets were ok, the brushes were worn, and one brush was stuck. The starter motor also had a bad electric burnt smell. The rotor was not shorted but the test for the commutator was 0.0090-0.0110 ohms but my meter only goes down to .1 ohms. So for the price of a new one, $232.00 it`s not worth rebuilding so I`m ordering a new one. I`ll try and get back once it`s installed for an update.

Keep a strong battery installed and don’t hold down the starter button too long when starting. This is how you keep your starter healthy.

The first gen crossplane does not like to be woken up when sleeping.
