You can drill 1.5 mm hole through the side of that flat head or get a pre-drilled titanium one from Pro-BoltDoes anyone know if the '15 drain plug is the same size as the '14?
Changed my oil the other day, and I have no idea how I would safety wire the factory one!

90% of the Yamaha bikes have the same drain plugs thread and there is no logical reason why the 2015 model would be any different and requiring a 'special" plug. You can measure it to be sure but I bet my pinky it is M14x1.5Pro bolt have one for the 15 r1?
Where did you get the aluminum plug? thanks.it is the same. I had an original R6 drain bolt cuz I picked up an aluminum magneted one for it, so I did my 1st service today and while I had it off, I checked (and put it in cuz it's already drilled for safety wire) they are the same threads

I think the washer is not missing, it's on there perhaps seized or welded oor welded on there.Mine was missing the washer too. I discovered it was missing was when I was draining the oil for the first time. Of course I didn't pick up a replacement so I just put the plug back in without it and and I haven't had any drips. I'll pick one up for my next oil change and just keep an eye on it for now.
You're probably fine, just be sure not to over tighten.
we just bought a replacement one from PRO BOLT.Does anyone know if the '15 drain plug is the same size as the '14?
