Am I the only one who thinks Lorenzo may actually do alright on the Poocati?.

Given the guy is an absolute toss but he sure can ride the wheels off a motorcycle[when it's not raining].
MotoGP News - MotoGP Valencia: Rossi: Stupid to forget Lorenzo, Ducati for 2017 title

No.

Seriously, I don't think he's going to come out and just light the track up, but there's no way he won't be competitive. He's a damned good rider when all the conditions are near-perfect. The bike they've got now is a goddamned missile, which TBH won't suit Jorge's style, but maybe they can adapt one or the other (the bike or his style)

It's all a matter of how Ducati will cope with no winglets, IMO.

No, I said when it was first announced that Lorenzo will probably not miss much of a beat when he jumps on the Duc. Now that Audi is actually engineering their bike and making vast improvements, they are going to make that a top flite bike, no question about it. Lorenzo timed this just right, IMO, now that Rossi convinced them their bike was sheot and they have been improving it ever since....and the riders they have now are equal for the quality of the bike IMO. Now that the bike is going to (they hope) up the ante into what they hope is a championship caliber bike, Lorenzo is a huge score for them and IMO will tear it up on that bike. Maybe not set the world on fire in year 1, but will definitely be a threat for wins. I don't see the doom and gloom that, IMO, is a carryover from the Rossi era there. Totally different bike now, totally different company and totally different engineering. It will be very interesting to see what Stoner does on it in testing and what his reports are. This is the most exciting off-season project going on.

I think it's a 70/30 shot that Lorenzo could kill the field at first race of the season next year. If Duc can keep their straight line speed advantage AND up its cornering performance, he and Duc could very well make it look like the first year of the 800's at that race.

JLo and everyone at Duc will need to thank Rossi for telling them they needed to get their chit together and start making changes to that bike!!

I do believe JLo will be a threat right from the start. Especially if Yam, Suz, Hon, don't get their power up to par with the Ducs.

It's going to be hard to overcome a HP disadvantage like that.
