Noting Mick Doohans comments on the weekend stating that the MOTO GP bikes can make the fastest road bike look slow is unbelievable dont' you think....

I think he is underestimating the power of an R1... hehehe...

Well so they say the next years MOTOGP bike can have 280hp...

It won't work,,,, just take a look at the DUCATIS now, with about 250hp,,, they can't put the power to the ground,, it smokes the rear wheel......

what you guys think???? 280hp is going over the top....

i completely agree with you. The racers will have to start using full throttle setups instead of the 1/2 or even 1/4 throttles they use now. There is a certain point that once you cross it, it dosnt matter how much more hp you get, you still wont be running laps faster.

only 2 limiting factors....
the size of the tire.... & the size of their balls
no less a good/reasonable arguement
to race 750's instaed of 1k's

this weekends race
approx eight(8) bikes qualified at over 200 mph
they are handling the HP & speed

ducati has approx 240-250
& no one in the paddock is disputing that figure
yet honda continues to win
HP is not always King !!!

they bikes will get limited in the future
possibly from a reasonable throttle body size

tires cant get much bigger
because cornering & handling would suffer more
than limiting HP

when teams datlog
they have seen repeatedly WOT on many tracks
is usually less than 10% of the lap
so having & using huge HP are 2 diff beasts

this year 1 huge advantage to racing four(4) stroke HP
less hi sides..... riders being thrown & injured from
the huge HP hit the 2 strokes had
that an attempt to mitigate with big bang engines
only moderately so

no doubt they already have engines putting out that kind of HP
figuring out how they are going to use it........headache !!

as long as they dont have many rain dates
speed..... performance.... HP will continue to go up
lap times down

U know what I've always wondered how the hell TOP FUELERS GET 5000HP to the ground without breaking traction....

someone told me it was all in the clutch set up and how much it slips etc etc... maybe they can do this with bikes!!!!

you will se RPM ceilings go higher
anywhere between 15 - 18k redline

probably see 1 more gear added to the tranny

a four stroke at those RPMS
has a softer hit
it loses compression ratio points
even tho its spinning faster
making more HP
its a softer hit if you are already rolling 120...... 150 mph

if you really look at the rear tires
even tho the have gotten bigger progressivly over time
the lil strip down he middle
is barely 2 inches wide in a straight line (road or road race)
not much to handle all that HP

look at the tires on back of a porsche... vette or bmw
& few have twice the HP
yet altho they are putting down that HP thru locked rear ends
& another tyre
they are putting several times more rubber on the ground

its going to be difficult to put more
rubber on the ground for bikes
not impossible..... difficult

they start to "print" them at these HP levels
on clean .....cured asphalt
which means they are at their limits
experiencing tire slip in the double digits
