i would look at your stock setting on your degree of your cams...might be able to play w/your stock cams and change the cam sprockets to adjustable ones and redegree the timing of your cams....just food for thought:yesnod
yosh makes cams. they are NOT drop in cams. you must clearance the head so the lobes will clear. to do this you must remove the head from the bike. its sucks!! you might also try web-cams. don't know if they make em for the r1 though. yosh cams are 1mm larger lift than stock set.. they make good power but [email protected]$750. plus labor to R&R head and machine work. degree the stock ones!!
My 99 has degreed cams ( EDR Performance ), Factory Ti jet kit with the Akro full system and puts out 144 rwhp on Eric's Dyno. I can get my buddy on his stock Gixxer 1000 now, but only because I'm a little better at bangin' the shifts and he weighs 40lbs more than me. If he remaps his bike and puts an exhaust on, he;ll regain the advantage.
If I were a dragracer staightline guy, I'd opt for the Gixxer 1000 over the R-1 in a heartbeat. Anything over 155rwhp on an R-1 is SERIOUS $$$$$, while getting to 170rwhp with a gixxer is not difficult:fact They ARE ugly, but fast
Graves makes an INTAKE camshaft for the 2002 R1. I've spoke to Graves a bunch of times about their intake cam and they said they didn't see any real HP gains when they replaced the exhaust cam.
I'm a Graves dealer....if you want pricing drop me an email at [email protected]
