hey everyone, been riding my 04R1 for about a year now, mainly been focusing on wheelies and such but now im looking at knee dragging, my 2 main questions are....

1) as in the pic i know im a bit too upright, ive been correcting that lately, but as for my form is there any pointers anyone can give?

2) with foot position, nowadays im trying to get the ball of my foot near the end of the peg pointing as far towards being parallel with the peg as i can but its still a bit uncomfy.. anyone have any preferred techniques they can share?

btw the pic is of me at my (so far) one and only track day, but i had to grab the pic of the photographers website, hence the watermark :dunno

cheers guys

As you no doubt realise your body position is wrong. There is enough lean angle to drag your knee but in that position you'd see the bike sliding down the road long before your knee touched.

You need to sit back in the seat, hang one butt cheek off the seat, lean your upper body forward and to the inside of the turn. Drop your inside elbow. Loosen up on your outside elbow. And just let the knee hang out naturally. Dont reach with your knee.

:sneaky

yeah i think my elbow probly dropped into the correct position by itself as a result of correct body position.. now just have to keep practising till its second nature, but it did feel strangely comfortable :D

yeah i see what you mean, lower elbow really encourages the position, those sbk and gp riders have some sweet form, mad to watch in person too

if you can find a roundabout...its a good place to start. you'll learn how to arrest lean angle with maintenance throttle. and also follow a consistent line.
i'm no expert...but thats how i learned this fall. i'll post pics of my left puck next week (picking up video cam friday).
it sucks that i just learned last week...cuz now the winter is upon me.
didn't get a chance to practice what i learned thru twisties.
lemme know how you're coming along.
peace
