Is Akrapovic going to have an exhaust for the '04 R1? I have not heard or seen anything, but I had a full race exhaust on my '02 and it was awesome. Hopefully they will.

Info has been posted severl times already. The full Evolution exhaust will list for $2400. The slip on is about half that price. There is also an optional midpipe that replaces the cat. Prices are in the '04 Lockhart Phillips catalog.

Good god. :fact Almost 2500.00 for a full system. :scared Man,
that's unreal. 1200.00 for just slip-on's? Oh well, I guess if you
gotta have it then you'll get it. I guess the days of my high
mount Scoripion slip on shipped to my house for 399.00 are out
the door. The '04 is nice, but those prices for that dual exhaust
underseat are too high for me. Then again, those who are getting
the '04 must have all the $$$$ anyway. Have fun with the mods
guys.

I have seen the graves exhaust, and it really doesnt look that clean on the bike, meaning its not very attractive with two round cans sticking out the back. I hope the akra looks more attractive as a system. As far as the price goes, wow. But if the performance, look, and sound is there, why not?

in the mods section some dude has the skinny on the akra and it sucks. they are only getting about 3HP gains on the full system and about 2hp out of their slip-on. the graves gives you about 10HP for the full and 4-5 for the slips at a fraction of the cost. i actually think the graves is pretty nice, but i'm not that into looks.

sounds like akra missed the boat being high cost and low performance. maybe their midrange is off the charts, but i haven't seen a dyno run.

if you find that post, it also has sound measurements and other cool data.

Akrapovic info...

the details from Akrapovic on the '04 R1 full system and slip-ons. Still down on the ZX-10R (HP and Torque) but not by much. However, the ZX-10R's torque curve is smoother.

The R1 stock HP is up on the GSX-R (Akrapovic figures) and CBR1000RR from what I read.

The following figures are as reliable as you will get. Akrapovic use the same facilities for every bike/exhaust they develop so this is as good a comparison as it gets.

European Model RWHP Figures show;
'04 R1 stock > 157.9 HP
'04 R1 slip-ons > 159.6 HP
'04 R1 full system > 160.7 HP
'04 ZX-10R stock > 158.4 HP
'04 ZX-10R full system > 165.5 HP

Akrapovic will post the 04 R1 overviews on their site some time next week. Available now at the following links;

the Two Brothers Slip-on produces more HP than the Akrapovic Full system. To hell with Akrapovic, they definately missed the boat on this one. I am up in the air between the Two Brothers and the Micron. Anyone have any input on that matter?

Well with all that being said, and of course some more research on my end, it could be the graves system that ends up on my bike. Performance comes 1st over looks anyways. I will say that I was extremely happy with my akra on my '02, but i will have to wait and see. Obviously akra wasn't concentrating on the better bike(R1) and focused on the zx10. oh well.

The Akra system has apparently been designed to address power delivery issues. There is a huge difference in the torque curves and the revised torque/HP curves seem to mate very well. This system is used on the Superbike R1 and some of the Euro Superstock bikes. Leo Vance(?) is also used. Don't forget this is a race system (at least the Evo is) and the bikes in this category have more issues with power delivery than outright power!

Or maybe it just that there was more to tune out of the ZX10R then there was out of the R1. And not that they focesed more on the ZX10R.

Different dynos/conditions = different results.
