Hey guys,
I wanted some advice on the new R1's. I have been riding for 3 years now and was wondering if it is time to get the R1. My first bike was a 99 R6, which I put 12,000 miles on. I sold that bike and just purchased the 05 GXSR 750 three months ago. I have not ridden the R1 yet and was wondering how much of a difference in power there is from my 750. It was a big jump from my old R6 but was just right. I have about 3000 miles on my 750, and I already want an R1.

A GIXXER 750 HAS MORE POWER ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS THAN YOU COULD USE. I STARTED ON A 750 AND HAD 3 R1'S AND A HONDA 954.. THEY WERE ALL NICE BUT I MISSED MY 750. SO NOW I AM GETTING A SMALLER BIKE. THE NEW 2006 R6.MY ADVICE: STAY WITH THE 750 FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND SEE WHAT THE YAMAHA GUYS COME UP WITH IN 2007. AND IN THE MEANTIME SHOW ALL THE SQUIDS ON R1'S HOW TO RIDE. I WAS DOING IT ON MY 750 SO WHY CAN'T YOU.. I HAD A LOT MORE FUN ON A SMALLER BIKE AND THE 750 IS ALMOST AS FAST AS A 1000, AND ON MOST CASES IT'S THE RIDER NOT THE BIKE.. SO SHOW EM HOW IT'S DONE. THEN GET AN 07 R1 AND THEY'LL BE LIKE DAMM NOW HE HAS A 1000...$#!*:rock :fork

There is a "Search" button at the top of the Home page as I have seen this question in threads no less than 200 billion times.

It depends on your wants/needs.

R6 is sweet for the track, R1 is sweet for the street. Buy both and you will not have to guess.

BTW: The only problem I see you may have with my statement is how to divide your :moto: time between r6-forum.com and r1-forum.com

i ahve to say i have come to teh conclusion i dont want the one anymore becuase of where i ride. it is alot of fun to come by someoen on a 600 that has the best new liter bike or come by them in the braking zone of the corner. jsut nothing lik eit.

i've had mine for awhile, and if i really open it up, its really, really hard to hold on to. your hands start to come off the grips. all the litre bikes are extremely fast and all are within hundredths of seconds of each other in lap times and within a mile or two in top speed. they can all hit the pc top speed (300 km) so just get the R1 for looks. if you think you're ready, than get it.

You're ready for the R1.....but, what's wrong with riding your 750? For regular street riding and commuting, i think you have more than enough bike at your disposal. If you just "want" to have an R1 and you can afford it, then by all means, get the 1! For style and everything else, nothing can beat it. Just my 2 cents. Either way, good luck with your decision. :riding
