You can polish stainless steel to look like chrome, but because of the grade of the OEM SST fasteners, they will eventually corrode.

Have you given any consideration to Titanium? It looks great natural, retains its luster, doesn't corrode, won't seize/weld-in like SST, is lighter, and can be used in both stressed/non-stressed applications :thumbup

Check out all the different TI on my bike on my webpage for ideas if you like. The newsletter breaks down the mods (including TI) in detail :yesnod

Try www.racebolts.com they have full kits of bolts for the R1 in different finishes. I got the black chrome D rings and love them.

Any photo's of my bike on my webpage, for the following items, contain TI fasteners-

Rearsets, steering damper, brake/clutch/throttle controls, triple clamps, brake rotors, calipers, fork pinch, sliders, exhaust hanger/clamp, engine casings, axle (nut), barends, stand spools, lowers (non-quarter turn), front fender, etc.

I don't think you'll find TI D-Rings or quarter turn (non D-Ring) thou, those are typically alloy or SST :yesnod
