Just got home from another great weekend at Deal's Gap and the Cherohala Skyway. The colors are beautiful and should be prime next weekend. I rode the VStrom up this weekend to give the R1 a rest.

Sometimes I an't understand people though. While at Telico Plains at the gas station, there was a guy on a silver 04 R1. He was using the nasty squeege to wash and dry his bike! I was in shock. If you read this man, don't be offended, but I would never do that to my bike!

Sounds like you had a great time. I'd love to do the Gap area in the fall of the year. Using a nasty squeegee is not as bad as watching those guys put window cleaner on their visors and windscreens.

It was about 40 deg F in the Am and warmed up to lower 60s. It was really nice.

Traffic was light compared to a normal summer weekend. However, there were some real idiots. There were some good Harley riders that waved me around (thanks guys) and there were others that were oblivious.
There was alos a guy on a Gixxer 1000 with his buddy on an R1 (not a forum member) . I knew that they had to be noobies to riding as they were all gaga over the MV Augusta and said they had never seen one before. The Gxr had a camera straped to the tail, pointing aft. Anyhow they took off. A liitle while later, I took off. I caught them quickly and was really surprised as to how slow they were going. Really slow.....like the speed limit!

I sure would like to see their friends faces when they show them the video! How are they going to explain the old, fat guy on a VStrom smokin' them?!

The only cops I saw all weekend were the ones that responded to the wrecks and one at the gas station.
