Today was a pretty hot day 95+. I dont know if this has anything to do with it but while riding fairly hard today between 4th and 5th gear it hit a false neutral. It revved up like it was in neutral then I had to kick it in 5th. I was at around 9K rpm and maybe I didnt upshift hard enough. Ive heard of hitting neutral between 1st and 2nd but WTF. Has anyone had this happen. I have 2500mi. and this is the first time this has happened to me. I just switched to a semi synthetic oil at 2000mi. Let me know guys, Im thinking of taking it to the dealer but I would rather not.

Specifically, what oil are you using (brand, weight, viscosity)? So far, I have had no false neutrals, clutch slippage, etc. I have about 2000 miles on mine so it may be too early to tell.

Its Castrol Syntec 20/50 semisynthetic.

I have hit neutral between first and 2nd ocassionaly, but that is probably because I wasnt shifting hard enough. Never happened between 4th and 5th.

I think you should be good for using synthetic at 2000 miles. Not too much seepage. I'm going to wait till 4000 miles and then put in some Aunt Jemima Pancake Syrup! Holds up better in the heat

This may be a case of clutch slippage. I would suggest switching to Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40.

Between 3rd and 4th

I had this happen. It sucked. It never happened again. I had 2300mi on it. Bike has been totaled. It happened around the 650mi mark.
