Could also be that your idle is set too high. There is a knob just above your clutch housing on the right side of the bike, that adjusts your idle.

You might have a stuck temp sensor. The bike thinks it's cold and raises the rpm to warm up the engine just like when the bike is first turn on. Also try setting your idle to 1100. 1500 is a little to high.

I think you should read my post again. You just basically repeated what I just said.:butt

My original post:

My 02 gets stuck in high rpm at 3k until the fans go on at 220 degrees then it is normal again. Where is the temp sensor. At what temp shoud it shut off. I replaced the header could I have done something wrong there.
