I wear a Dainese Gilles II. Worn as a vest in its form factor. Very comfortable, and when hot I wear it by itself as my undergarment beneath my leathers...

I wanted a Dianese but they didn't have it in my size. They are probably considered to be the best.

I ended up getting a Teknic, it was around $75 bucks, very comfortable, and was about $150 bucks less than the Dianese. I had two low sides at the track at over 100 and walked away without a problem. On the second wreck my head snapped back pretty hard so the right side of my back muscles were sore, but the back protector did it's job.

I honestly think that Eyespy should really answer the question, "Is any backprotector a backprotector". Since he's a doctor he probably knows better than anyone here. :thumbup

Take a look at the Icon back protector. As soon as I saw it I new it was the one I wanted. Fully adjustable, has a hard rubber sternum protector and will fit under your jacket very comfortably. Doesn't ride up on you. Also at $80, I think it is about the most affordable one.

GOOD LUCK!

I wear an Alpinestars tech race, and love it. Its pretty thick compared to others though, so if your leathers are tight...

Im currently use the ALPINESTARS SMx-bionic...nice, snug fit and it held up pretty well and did its job when a buddy of mine went down. A back protector and upper body protection all-in-one

I also had the chance to use the Dainese Gilles...nice aswell, but had to sell because I needed funds badly. Solid fit, but the A*s one is just as good.

And with all gear...Just make sure you get properly fitted

I use a A-Star Race Tech Back protector...it's made to fit into A-Star suits and I have a TZ-1 so it works out nice...snaps into places. It's a great idea that everyone forgets about.

I use a Teknic and it's done it's job well a couple of times at the track when I've been thrown, there's probably better ones out there but for the money it seems like a good product to me.
