Hi all.

Started my bike after work today, pulled out onto the motorway while my bike was still warming up. Got up to 5th gear at around 90kmh (52mph) - dropped it into 4th and let the clutch out and heard a loud gear crunching noise. I pulled off the motorway fearing I had really busted something. Couldn't find anything wrong, Pull away and it did it again, this time on a 5th gear change. What the heck is that? Gearbox, chain? The sound came after I let out the clutch.

After the bike was at normal running temperature I couldn't replicate the problem again.

Any ideas?

Next time let your bike get up to operating temps?

In that mototune guys website,a about break in, says 2 things lead to blown engines, improper break in, and not letting the engine warm up to certain temp before getting on bike hard.

Hope that helps, next time let the bike warm up before moving, or riding hard on it.
