Well I have decided to get a 02 R1 in Cali this summer [cheaper then WA, and I have business down there anyway]. Anyway I will be riding the bike back up to WA [1,251miles], I wanted to know if the R1 has any quarks with a trip like that? I probably will only stop for gas and food, so it will not get much cool down time. I could truck it up but since this will be my daily driver I want to give it a trial by fire.

Quirks, not really. The bike will tolerate the long ride better than most riders will, LOL. Expect mpg about 40ish. Oh, no storage capacity at all. You planning on putting on a tank bag? Sounds like a cool trip. One of the mags did a recent article about a 2200 trip on a R1 bought in CA and ridden partway across the country in under 2 days.

cool, how far is that from Port Angeles?

A long and expensive ferry ride away lol. From San Juan to port angels it's like 4 hours with the ferry ride.
Luckily for me I will be moving to Seattle in Jan.

I have family up that way. Only thing that prevented me from moving up there a long time ago was all the damn rain you guys get

other than that, its the most beautiful area in the Country in my opinion

It also gets pretty cold in the morning up there. I remember below freezing and it was a pain for the windshield. Thats where you'll test a tires cold weather performance. I'd say heat them up real good. Later bro

Well once I get the R1 it will be indoors, climate controlled so no worries. Besides once Jan. rolls around I will be moving to Seattle.
