Hey guys I have this little issue with my gauges since it's from Canada... The dealer switched it so that the speed is indicated in MPH and the distance is in Miles. BUT... The units are still displayed as KPH for speed and KM for the odometer and trip meters:eek: ... It's annoying and I was wondering if any of you know if there is some switches I can flip inside to change that or not?

hey man i would call yamaha about your warranty. if your bike has a canada sticker on it then it was illegal to sell it to you. but yamaha gave me hell about that but i got it straight. but i would make them buy me a brand new speedo. i cut the middle man out i went to canada to get my bike and and saved 2 grand. man i would take that bike bake and make them fix it. that is why dealers have bad reps(they do the slickest shit< and want you to deal with it) I bet you could not go in the dealer and throw 15k in canadian money and buy a bike. No!! they will make you get ist in us money first, tell them butts that they made about 3 grand on the deal and the best that they can do is km(they made that much -----when i bought my bike the guy told me that if i bought 3 then he would give them to me for 7250.oo no duty tax just ship!!

I was fooling around with mine the other day and stumbled on something interesting, maybe this is common knowledge, but I had no idea. I never really looked at the owners manual, but I'm sure it's in there too. If you hold in the select button for like 5 sec. or so, the spedo will toggle between mph and kph. It looks like the odo stays the same though. But it will tide you over for a while.

Also, if you go to martinc's web page, there's some info on adding/removing some jumpers to change spedo configurations:

Look under the very first subject item.

By the way, I've got a Canadian bike and I live in the US. The guy that had it before me swapped the whole cluster out instead of modifying it.

I too have purchased my 01 from Canada and am experiencing similar frustrations. I emailed the guy that runs the site (mentioned in an above thread) and he said the fix was only for 98-99 models. Sure enough, I opened the speedo unit up, took the circuit board out, etc. but no jumpers. Yamaha must have changed this on the newer models. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew what unit actually generates the signal the speedo uses. Would it be possible for me to simply swap either this unit or the actual speedo unit with one from the states? Any advice would be appreciated.....
