alright, but how do you remove rust without taking the chain off? btw i hate rain...

The OEM chain is much more prone to corrosion vs. a higher quality aftermarket chain, because of the lack of plating on an OEM chain. I have a DID ERV2 on mine and its sat outside for 3 seasons with no noticable corrosion, all I do is wipe it down regularly with WD40 :thumbup

every tank of gas i clean and lube

i clean with a wet chain lube onto a hot chain then ride around for 5 minutes

then i wipe the chain down then treat with silkolene titanium which i thought was similar to belray

Wax, lube, etc...that thick shit robs horsepower also, messy and just shitty stuff. Lube chain before every ride with WD40 soaked folded paper towel, wipe excess off with dry paper towel and go. Takes 30seconds. Have seen 20,000 miles + from tons of people who do it and rip their shit hard and sprockets are just as new, and chain only needs adjusted as usual. You can't BEAT WD-40 for chain lube.

Also chain looks like new EVERY SECOND of it's life. It's a true riders secret and it's been tested by so many riders.

I've been using Bel-Ray Chain Wax for years with great results.....except even putting it on a warm chain and then wiping it down....it still builds up gunk and crap to some extent.....

So I decided w/ the new bike to use WD-40 from now on and see how long it lasts and how it works, etc...kind of an experiment......now, I only have 6k on my bike and chain, but in two years of riding the chain looks like new, spins freely w/ no tight spots I can find, is nice and shiny (both sides too, you can see thru the back rim to the back of the sprocket and chain and they gleam in there!).

I have yet to notice any ill effects from the WD....so I'm going to be sticking w/ it for a while.

Same here been using nothing but WD-40 on my new R1 going strong my buddy has 16,000 miles on his FZ1 using only WD-40 and no signs of needing new chain or spocket my :thumbup for the WD-40.

I am wondering how often I shoud clean and lube / lube only ? or if i should even ever lube only...

i figure i should lube it every 300 to 400 miles (right?) but should i clean it every time i lube it?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, WD-40 is all you need and you're lubing the 0-rings (x-rings) so they don't crack. Don't use chain wax cause your o-rings don't need no stinking wax. The only thing you need to concern yourself with is keeping the o-rings from cracking and letting the lube out. I've used nothing but WD-40 on my last bike and got 22,000 miles out of the chain with only two chain adjustments and it still had another 20,000 miles left in it. On my current bike I'm on the long term WD-40 plan and will publish my results when it finally wears out. Don't wait up for it as I expect to get another 5-6 years out of it.

ps I hit the o-rings with WD-40 every 333 1/3 miles, wiped it off and go.

found it pretty easy to spray an area of the chain down with WD40, hit it with a brush, then use a 50/50 or less mix of Simple Green and water in a spray bottle to blast away gunk... then blast that with another bottle with nothing but water, then move to next section of chain.... dryin right now...

gonna use chain wax for lube

I do the same except after cleaning with simple green I hit again with WD-40 since it's suppose to displace water, wipe it back down with a rag....
