With only 69 miles on the clock my chain had like 3 inches of play in it? I never checked it (stupidly) when I picked up the bike. Before you start ragging on me I'm headed out right now for a 100 miler through some amesome twisties in Acadia National Park! I'll check the chain when I get back and see if it has loosened up again. By the way, I have done a fair amount of wheelies which might be attributable to the chain stretching but it just seemed like a lot to me. Catch you guys later today!:thumbup

Same here!!! I had never check it until last week and it was REALLY loose, with only 250 miles on her. And it looked quite dry if you ask me. I dunno if the dealer hasn't ajusted it before giving it to me or did it really stretch that much?

Anyways... i ajusted and lubed it and i will see if it's still stretching as fast.

I actually have been easy on the bike Droog.:D I have yet to rev past 8000 RPM. On my ride today when I got back the chain had not stretched at all after some pretty hard acceleration. I don't know what to make of it.

loose chain blues

same story here----in the break in period, noticed and heard mainly alot of play in the chain and that was just before going out to the beach 60 miles away! I immediately went to the dealership and said "what's up" and they fixed the problem in a snap...:crash

You guys kill me

Some of the stuff that gets posted here borders on the unbelieveable:confused:
I NEVER take a bike out without checking oil level, tire pressures and chain tension.
The motorbike shops must just smile when they see you coming:lol Sorry, if it sounded sarcastic, it was meant to:thumbup

I meant all the wheelies you referred to in the original post. That's hell on a new chain

Guys...what's going on here? New chains stretch...old chains stretch...all chains stretch. Nothing to worry about, just fix it. Takes like 5 minutes using the tools that came with the bike. You don't even need a stand or anything. Give it 2 turns on the left, 2 turns on the right. Still too loose? Give it one more turn. Use a ruler to measure the slack if you want to be precise. I just eyeball it, never been a problem.

Chain stretch can happen at 5 miles, 50 miles, 500 miles, 50,000 miles ect. Feel me? Don't over think these kinda things, it'll make your brain hurt.:lol
