I just got through changing my oil and while I was at it I figured I’d remove the front sprocket cover and chain guide since it’s been a while since they’ve seen some cleaning. After getting the chain guide clean, I reinstalled it and couldn’t believe how much difference it made. The rear wheel spins so easy now. It was pretty good before, but I never realized how much drag was being caused by the grime on the chain guide. Anyway, this will now be done on a regular basis, at least with every oil change, if not in between. It only takes a minute or two to remove and clean it. Same with the front sprocket cover. I know some of you guys may do this regularly, but maybe some of you guys have never taken off chain guide before. Clean it up really well and you’ll be surprised what a difference it can make.

Yes....I've got better things to do after every ride than lube my chain with WD40.......so should everyone else. Speaking from my experience when using WD40 alone.....

Waay to lite unless you lube every ride or every other ride depending on the length/time of your ride and enviroment in which you ride. Give it a try then you'll understand.

i cleaned it up with WD40, and put a layer of chainwax.. maxima chainwax for me.. work like charm!!

that bel ray is the POOP!!! I have 20g on my RR's original chain iit works great ZERO sling off ..and I have no chain gurd either!
the chain wax will sling off on long high speed runs...it had its day in the sun back in the 90's...but each to his own...everyone has a fav...but it shouldn't be wd 40...unless you want it to wear out sooner

WD-40 for cleaing rubber O-ring chain? better check to see if your swollen rubber is still there..haha BRAKE CLEANER!!!!
save the WD--> for cleaning the thick goop around counter spocket with a rag every other--> other oil change.
WD-40--->petroleum base!! motul lube here.

Pardon me...next time I'll use spell check! Chain care is right behind oil changes when it comes to old wives tales. One hard lesson I've learned is don't let Grunk anywhere near your bike especially the chain when you are cleaning it, use kerosene. If there is a chain care product on the market, I've tried it. The new Bel ray will keep your chain clean and lubricated. Most others wind up forming a huge glob of goo in the area of your countershaft spocket. And WD-40 is great stuff, but not on your chain. My primary use is to displace water on hand tools and cleaning my Ti exhaust system.
