I have been trying to bring it up but with no luck. So you know i am not some squid trying to impress the girls down the street, I love the twisties the most. Hey no chicken strips on my bike. anyway, any and all input would be great. Love the forum it kicks ass :rock

all this clutching in second. are you telling me that the r1 can power up in second. if that in the case it is one weak 1000cc bike. i could power up on my 600 if i really got on it.

YamaFreak. I can wheelie my R1 in 6th gear if i really get on it.. and use a lot of technique.

3rd gear powerups is not a problem. Did it yesterday (bike looking as a streetfighter).. came out of a corner @ 100mph and just gave throttle and a bit of tug in the bars and I was wheeling kingly down the road.

HELP

I can't wheelie roll-on in second.. I get it to 6500, move back in seat and snap it off then really hard on real quickly, and the bike just accerates like mad forward!!!

I am really light, 130 lbs, so maybe this is why? I am also running a full system with stock main jets, so maybe I am down on power... will fix this, this weekend.

wheelie

hey dude-try this-instead of sliding back in the seat, let off the gas in second gear around 55-60mph, stand up on your pegs, lock your knees and give it full throttle while tugging lightly on the bars-this will bring her up where you can manipulate the gas to balance her--:rock

Hey mercurial,

try a higher RPM...say like 7000 or a little higher. It'll come up bone stock, it just takes a little practice to find the meat of the powerband and getting your timing down. I've found that timing is more helpful than anything (i.e. what rpm, when to bounce, when to tug the bars ect). Work on your timing and you will see results.

Timing is everything, techique is everything.

I wheelied mine in 4th sitting today.. all techique.

I wheelied like a king today. Accelerated past cars enough to loft the front and I just shifted through the gears as I wheelied past the cars. Gawd I love that.
Always doing it safe of course... hehe
