Hi Guys, I just purchased an 01 R1 (full two bros system, fend elim and other carbon crap), 1900 miles for ($8400), which seemed like a great deal to me... especially since the guy didn't even have wear on the bottom inch and a half on each side of the front tire!

anyway, I have my beater sv650s, what do you guys think about commuting on the R1? Should I keep the sv650s for commuting, I'd hate to put too many miles on my new baby... but then again I don't like the idea of the R1 being merely a weekend toy either.

who commutes on their R1? The tremendous power might actually be a detriment in heavy traffic that requires a constant light touch...

Don't worry as soon as you get used to riding the R1 you will make that decision on your own. One day you will be wiping the dust off the old SV and decide to put the ad in the shopper. I ride the R1 all the damn time. commuting, ripping, going to the store whatever. The way I look at it the more tires I wear out the better rider I will be.
Besides who would ride a suzuki if they can ride a yamaha!!:lol

the whole premise of the post was that riding 30 miles each way, everyday will seriously lower the bikes resale value. But what the hell, If I already have one of the most dominating bikes out there, why would I ever need to sell it? :thumbup
