Frank Kinsey runs a school that goes to Savannah/Roebling Raceway, maybe closer to you. It isn't difficult. He has a site, a search engine will get you there.

Or go to the CCS...Championship Cup Series. They have a site with everything you need to know to start racing.

Check out pro motion. You have to attend a pre licensing school and then upon passing you take another school and recieve your race license.

You need a competition license to do a track day?? Never seen this before...

As far as race license, the organization I do track days through has a ccs training course/test for $150 to get your license... I'm sure their website would me most helpful for this...
