Let me start by saying, shopping for an 02 R1 sux.
I got approved on Thurs. by Yamaha. Went to a dealer in the denver area(only one that had a blue in stock). Took them until Friday to get the figures together. Finally, was told it would be $12,300 OTD. They were trying to stick me for $1200 freight and setup. I informed them that I found a dealer that was getting a blue one in this month and would let it go for 10,400+tax. They said they'd meet me half way $700 over retail. They all talk like if u wont pay it someone else will. The next place tells me come on in and im sure we can get real close. So I fight the traffic at 4pm across town. Get there and they're like we wont sell one for less than $1000 over list. The place I finally went with was totally helpful over the phone and when I drove the 100mi to give my deposit, the people there were totally customer service oriented. They said they would keep me posted on delivery date. I told the salesman that I liked doing business with them and when I have to buy two YZ85's for 2003, id drive the distance to buy from them. My son races motocross and we spend $$$ at motorcycle shops. I'm not so much upset about price but the way that some dealers treat their customers. K, through venting.
Now I just wonder how many sleepless nights before the bike gets in.......lol
