Hello All,
I'm not to proud to say that my Baby has a couple of ochies. I was riding home at about 0400 Monday morning from work and I hit a deer. Well actually the deer hit me. I spotted the first one and avoided her but didn't see her bigger friend behind her. I hit that deer and held on for the ride. I'm pretty lucky from what I've been told the last two days. I heard some stories of people dying, bikes getting totaled, and some serious injuries. What I am proud to say is that I walked away from it. I stayed up on the bike and didn't drop her. She has some serious cosmetic damage though. I'm going to be in need of a whole new right front end. Any suggestions? I need any info avaliable on discounted new parts. I also what to tell you all to ride safe.

Holy Shit!
We have a lot of deer in Scotland, had a big fucker of a stag run out in front of the car but never the bike!

Biggest thing I have hit was a duck believe it or not, broke my front mud guard and scored my left front fairing badly on my ThunderAce a couple of years back not to mention making me spew with the smell!!


Sorry to hear about your bike however glad you are O.K, could have been a lot worse....

Where I'm at

Deer are one of the bigger dangers for us here. I've had MANY close calls over the years , but have been fortunate thus far to avoid impact. We all run deer whistles here too. Whether they work or not is anybodies guess. I've had several riding m8's have their bikes and bodies ravaged by deer:machinegu :machinegu I LUV venison. Good hunting on your parts.

I was riding late one night in the country on a 2 lane highway.........on my FZR.............saw the deer up ahead, and the car next to me didn't...........they hit a fairly large buck, and it fell, and spun kicking in front of me.............I dunno what I did, but I missed it and slid to a stop.........not layin her down............then the comedy started, the buck was still alive, but had broken legs.............no one had guns *hard to believe in the town I was in* So one hill jack tried to grab the buck, while it was still kicking..............that guy flew about 10 feet............then the next guy flew about 15...........they gave up..............then the cops showed, shot him, and that was that......

You are one lucky guy....

Yea dude thats my Sub, the older one you guys saw at Taco Bell is my daily beater/mudder/snowman killer/shoppin cart pusher. I heard your bike is at the Shit Shack getting fixed. yea its all comestic, the radiator overflow bottle is in perfect shape, but most of the right side including half of the front is gone, it looks terrible!

I was goin about 90 during the evening one time a while ago and just out of nowhere I nailed what I thought was a dog. Didn't even have time to slow down. Busted my lower fairing and bent the shifter. I went back to see if the dog was still alive, but all I saw was the biggest damn raccoon I've ever seen in my life!! It was pretty dead, too...

The kangaroo I hit didn't even stop to see if I was OK.

Then there was the time I slowed down and stopped when I saw some deer. I didn't think we had them here. One of them turned around and gave me that look: "What the **** are you looking at?"

If you hit an animal and stay on the bike, you deserve a big :thumbup

We were out in the mountains on a short trip. We stopped for a second and turned around. Not five minutes after we had passed this place there was something dead in the road. After slowing down and looking over we saw that it was a grizzly cub dead.

Needless to say we got the hell out of there. Did not want to see momma around, which I know she was. Out here there are a ton of deer, (I hear yah Olddog). But we have been lucky to spot them ahead of time. We also have moose, (not as many), elk, and sheep. I would take hitting a deer over hitting an elk any day of the week. Most people total out their cars after hitting one of those. I can't imagine what it would do to the bike or rider. :no

Glad to hear that you are okay dis-da-1. Most people are in the hospital after hitting a deer.
