maaaaaan, got the bike in pieces, got the carbs off,in pieces and on the bench just to come to the conclusion that r1 carbs sucks...they are so compact, there"s no way to graft anything on them...

i even flirted with the idea of taking them apart(100% in pieces)but even then,nope....

i still have a chance, the longest stacks factory are selling...i"ll contact my friend Marc next week,we"ll see then.

:(

good thing is the bike is still running great.

Keep us updated please ?

Hi,

I hope you don't mind us waiting for you to have all the pain and then tell us what not to do and how to do it properly.

I'm hoping that this kit will compensate for the removal of the EXUP valve. Are you using a full aftermarket exhaust ? Slip-on ?

I don't have access to a dyno here in the desert and so I've been stalling on fitting the Micron Serpent headers cause I'm worried I won't be able to set it up properly. If this kit can overcome this, we're in business !

Tell us all ! Please ?

ugh...

i dont know if i"m anything to go by as far as being an example(hehehe)...

-full system(yosh,i"m taking off the duplex canisters this week)
-ramair
-moded carbs
-flo-commander
-cleaned and shaved head(not me,the bike...well...er....)
-dialed cams
-agressive cams timing
-YEC race ignition box(do away with the exup ign. curve)
-experimental carbs needles
-factory ignition advancer(to be taken off shortly)
-krankvent
-and so on and on and on....

the installation kit i"m getting this week consist of very simple stainless plates to be screwed on the floor of the airbox;just have to get the tip of the DAJ right in the middle of the carbs(there will be a conflict with the nitrous nozzles, but hey,i can do that).

thsi will make the installation much much simpler, and the adjustment even more simpler...i"m happy they did not fit on the bell mouths after all!

i"ll keep you guys posted with pics and impressions.

well,it will also be on my site,of course!

A short list of mods then .....

Excellent ! Bet it goes like hell ? Do you take your bike to a dyno ?

So, the mill$ question :

Will the Dail-a-Jet get rid of the low / midrange flatspot ?

As I said before, I've been avoiding serious engine mods for fear of not being able to set it up properly.

Which Ramair are you using ? This together with a full header system is what I believe the R1 needs to realize its full potential.

Will this DaJ smooth out the power curve, with these two mods done ?

-nope...nothing like real-life tuning.

-if its a lean condition, its sure will.

-qbcarbon...but aftermarket ramair systems should be used with at least dialed cams(i"m using the stock dialed cams because i dont want the peaky performance of aftermarket cams...yet)

-well,i"ve achieved this just by using a flo-commander...

the FC allows you to lean out what"s near perfection(using big main jets messes the bottom a lot)and the DAJ will compensate for fueling deficiencies caused by improper needles taper or incorrect float height...

but its much more than just those few lines...a damn book was writen on just the DAJ for God"s sake!

i"ll write a piece of what i"m thinking about the combination of both on my site...should be a bit long, but i"ll do it as soon as tripod unlock my uploading powers...damn it.
