Ive never been caught in the snow on my one, but when i had my ZX6R i was just leaving work and it started to snow, from work to my house is about 9 miles, a couple of minutes into the journey the snow was starting to really stick and it was getting really heavy, i had just cruise in 2nd gear whlie having my visor half open coz it would steam up and also wiping it with my hand every 5 seconds coz the snow was building up, i had never seen snow like it. But i made it home in the end. Definately something i never want to do again.
Glad you made it back ok. :thumbup

I rode my home on 2/12/03 last year. Almost lost the back end when I was out leaving the dealership parking lot, but other than that drama free.

Crazy thing was it was only about a 5 mile ride home.. but I got the thumbs up from EVERYBODY.. and at one stoplight this married couple talked me to death about how much fun I must be having to be riding out in that weather and how they couldnt wait for the summer time to go riding..

I have ridden in snow on my R6, R1 and FZ1.
An R6 story: Was riding and the snow looked liked hyperspace from star wars. The optical illusion made it feel like I wasn't moving, but I was. I thought I would wreck from the feeling not the snow.:bandit
An R1 story: Had to ride home (normally 15 minutes) in some snow, the roads had about an inch of slush on them. It took me about an hour to get home. When I first got my 02 R1 in Feb 02 it was warmer (40) but was raining. Then the next day it was down to 15, I went to ride it to class and the rotors had frozen and the key wouldn’t turn. I had to get a hair dryer to thaw out the ignition. This has happened on my FZ1 many times, especially after I washed it the other day when it was about 35. The next morning I fired up the kerosene heater to thaw the bike out this time.:bash
FZ1 stories: 1) Once I was trying to go up a hill in the snow, the road was too slippery so I steered off into a roadside concrete culvert that had sand accumulated in it; this gave me enough traction to make it up. 2) Another time I was riding it wasn't snowing but it was so cold my face shield froze over and I had to stop and scrape my frozen breath out because I couldn't see. 3) This winter I rode thinking that it wouldn't snow anymore that day. I stayed in the clear paths formed on the road from cars and went to work. It then snowed more and I tried to leave after I got off. I had to waddle my bike and rock it through the parking lot and down the road about a hundred yards until I gave up and paddled back to the store, and got a ride home.
My buddy and his FZR: He lives way out in the country and road his FZR down his snowed over roads with his feet out like skies. I think it took him 1.5 hours to get to work (normally about 25 minutes). That seemed a little extreme to me, I am not even sure how he got it up his steep driveway.:dunno

I find it ironic that when the roads get bad people in cars drive so slow that I can actually catch up to them my bike. I wonder if they feel kind of silly that they suck at driving so bad a motorcycle caught up to them on icy and snowy roads? My g/f is afraid of driving in the snow too, and I tell her that if I can get around on 2 wheels she should be able to manage it on four.

Some nice pics. We don't get much snow here in South Central
Florida. So, I doubt I'll ever get the chance to ride in the snow.

Just last Thursday I rode into work because it was 50º out. Two hours later I rode home in an f-ing blizzard. I figured I'd get it home since the ground was still too warm to freeze and I didn't want my ONE buried under an assload of snow. There's nothing like having to keep your visor cracked so the damn thing wont fog up. And, of course, having to wipe it every 10 seconds because you can't see through the snow either. When I got home, I was a complete mess. And one freezing s.o.b. too! And wouldn't you know it, a couple hours later it stopped snowing. Things were pretty damn slushy, though. After that ride, I needed many :beer :beer :beer :beer

Snow? No snow down here:lol Now I've had to ride through downpours during a hurricane on a little Virago 1100. That blew major goats. A) the bike felt like a toy to begin with, B) couldn't see 5 ft in front of me, and C) had to ride 105 miles in the sh*t, and D) passenger didn't know how to lean with me and the bike also giving the death grip as well. Never again:fact

I ride all year.
Lat year jsut before xmas woke up one morning to thick snow.
rode the backroads using my feet as paddles and stablisers. I rode another 25 miles to work with no problems, got to the carpark at work - The roads had been gritted but the lazy cheapscate b&^%rds at work left the carpark like a ice rink!. On turning into the car park i hit a patch of ice, came off at around 2 or 3 mph! and dislocated my shoulder and was off work for three weeks and had a shit xmas. I now ride in all weather except to work!

I got stuck riding in the snow down the interstate. What sucked was I was about an hour or so away from my house and an hour away from where I was going so it didn't matter if I turned around or not. Was only about 10-15 miles in the snow, but I just kept my feet down and went about 25-30 mph until I hit the first gas station and then pulled. But that sucked. Wiping your face mask off every 10 seconds, and it was fogging up so I had to crack it open which made my face freeze. Shite even my snot was starting to freeze. It was the worst experiance ever.:no
