I finally got that long awaited call from the dealership and will be picking up my Red '04 R1 today. My question is...shouldn't I be able to get them to agree to giving me a discount on any future purchases, like 10-15% off instead of a one time thing??? After all, I'm gonna be spending some serious cash for mods over the next few months.

Anyway let me know what kind of deals you guys were able to work out with your bike shops. Thanks.

some dealers will do that it just all depends. you can probably save that 10 to 15% Just by ordering it from someone on the internet though...........tobefast.com is one you can never go wrong with. Fast shipping and great customer service. Top notch guys man.

Yes, but the discount you get at McCoys is the same as 10-15%, and you have to pay shipping. I have ordered items from McCoys and they are great. But we all need to support our local dealers.:fact

If not, where will you buy your bike from next time?:dunno

It is going to be difficult to get a large discount on Yamaha OEM parts. I don't know too many people that get more than 10% on Yamaha OEM parts. Any other parts, performance, apperal, whatever, I can get 20% across the board including Honda and Suzuki OEM.

I think that Yamaha as a company, regulates discounts. Maybe? Not sure. I would like to know if anyone can explain it to me.

Ames power sports gives you 15 off everything but labor and plastics. But gytr stuff, aftermarket crap...unless the markup on it isn't 15 they will give it to you. So like, an Akra slip on is retail just over a grand...markup is only like 10% so they couldn't help you on that. But I have leathers and all sorts of things for about 100-150 bucks off. It's great.

Yamaha is just like any other company they mark their stuff up, don't let anyone tell you different. I get 15% off retail on all OEM Yamaha stuff (from a local dealer) and larger discounts on some aftermarket stuff. I've got as much as 30% off Yamaha OEM stuff from a much larger Yamaha dealer. Just my two cents.:fork

Thanks for all your info... I picked her up last night and could only get them to agree to a 15% discount on my initial purchase. Oh well it's better than nothing and I guess I'll just get most of my stuff online.

I gotta say though, after I got her home and unloaded that first ride was ****ing GREAT! Now it's time to get past the break-in so I can really stretch her legs. Oh, one other thing...people at work keep looking at me like I'm crazy when they ask me where I park it at night, and I tell them...In my dining room. Surely I'm not the only one that does it...
