Hello,

I bought a dogbone from my local Yamaha Dealer and it did not come with any specs or instructions.

It is made by Diamond Distributing and it has 2 settings. The first setting is about 10mm longer than stock.

Does anybody know how to calculate the change in ride height based on the length of the Dogbone?

I cannot get in touch with this company and my Yamaha dealer cannot help me.

Before I mount this on my R1, I want to make sure it is not going to be too low.

Thanks for your help.

I only need it a little lower. I am not going to slam it. I am not a drag-racer and don't want to be scraping every time I corner.

I am vertically challenged and would feel more comfortable if I was not tip-toeing all the time.

Thanks.

No offense taken. At least I can spell.

I know I have to raise the forks, but by how much. I want to make sure I have an even drop and the geometry is not affected too severely.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
got to be carefull in how much yopu lower the rear;take measurement lets say,at the tip of the tail section, lower the rear, take another measurement.

lower the front accordingly.

keep in mind that if you lower the bike by an inch at both front and rear, you may end up lacking ground clearance.

Martinc,

I did exactly what you suggested and it was about 4.5 cm lower with the dog bone. I did not even try the next hole. I only wanted about 2 cm of drop.

I am selling it so if anybody is interested, let me know. It is brand new and I can send you pictures on Monday if you are interested.

Thanks for your help. You guys are great.

More of a case of butter fingers on the keyboooord.

But if you have finished taking the piss out me, try this.

Messure from the centre of the rear wheel nut up to a marker on the rear duck tail ( rear fairing). Best if you use a bit of gaffer tape for this. This is done with the standard dogbone.

Then replace the dogbone and re-messure. The difference between the two is the distence you need to raise the front forks through the clamps to maintain front to rear bias.

Hope this is of some help........:iamwithst

Still cannnt spell, but at least I know a thing or two about suspension.:thumbup

Hey R1_Dave,

Everybody makes spelling mistakes. It's OK.

Anyhow, I did exactly that and the difference was about 4.5 cm. I was not about to raise the forks 4.5 cm. I only wanted to lower it about 2 cm.

I am not going to destroy my fairings, therefore, I am selling the dog bone.

Thanks for your help and if you know anybody that wants to lower their R1, let me know. :thumbup

expedition,

Check out my post on this page with pictures of a rear ride height adjuster that I installed on my wife's R1. It allows a variable ride height adjustment that you can lower the bike up to 2 inches.
